Response to Reading
As a class, we are reading and sharing responses to ''I am not a label' written by Cerrie Burnell. Cerrie Burnell has brought together 34 trailblazing disabled role models from around the world and throughout history, whose incredible lives and careers demonstrate that living with a disability or chronic illness is not a definition, but just on part of what makes these amazing individuals so unique!
Our class novel is 'Secret's of a Sun King', by Emma Carroll. This narrative is a glorious historical adventure with a nimble, thrilling 1920s tale, as well as a wonderful subplot set back in Ancient Egyptian times, as found in a scroll written by Tutankhamun’s best friend.
Many children are keen to follow the text when we are reading to the class. Our next text is ‘The Explorer’ written by Katherine Rundell. Children are welcome to bring this text into school; please don’t forget that we have a fabulous local library.
BoomReader
All reading activity is recorded onto the digital reading record app BoomReader. It is a quick and easy way to track reading both at school and at home.
Readers of the week
Every week we track and recognise the top six children that have added the largest number of entries onto BoomReader. Could it be your child this week? Please continue to listen to your child read and ask questions about the text.
