Our policy is based on the notion that a school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school;
    engenders a feeling of community and belonging;
  • is practical and smart;
  • identifies the children with the school;
    is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be);
  • is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents and carers;
  • has been designed with health and safety in mind.

We welcome children from all backgrounds and faith communities. All children have equal access to wearing school uniform regardless of their culture, race, religion, gender, disability or ability. We ensure that our uniform reflects other policies and allows for individual sets of circumstances of all groups and individuals.

Should a standard item of school uniform prove problematic e.g. for religious reasons or for a pupil with disabilities, parents or carers should to draw this to the attention of the headteacher so that appropriate adaptations may be made to ensure that the child’s needs are met.
