Music is taught throughout the school as a discrete subject, by class teachers. The focus is fourfold, according to the National Curriculum: listening, appraising, composing and performing.
We also offer individual piano lessons for children from Year 3 upwards . These lessons are taught by Mrs Eccles, a peripatetic music teacher. Details and fee structures can be obtained from the office.
All children in Year 4 are taught to play a brass instrument by Mr Fisher as part of the Wider Opportunites initiative. This year they are learning the cornet.
Mrs Foster teaches Year 6 Music lessons and each lesson is made up of different elements – the learning of general musicianship skills, music games and topic work including African Music.
